Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has issued a challenge to quarterback Jordan Love, asking him to take on a bigger leadership role next season. LaFleur wants Love to be more vocal and demanding of his teammates.
LaFleur praised Love’s work ethic and his ability to connect with his teammates, but emphasized that he needs to take his leadership to the next level. “I think the next step is just to continue to evolve as a vocal leader. That just comes with the position naturally. I think he’s taken steps to get there, but I think he can really demand a lot,” LaFleur said.
LaFleur also noted that Love’s teammates respect him, and that his message would carry more weight if he were to speak up more. “He’s a grinder. He’s one of the guys. That’s one of his best qualities. He is one of the guys. But when things aren’t quite right, he can voice that as well. It just means more when it comes from your quarterback than from me or one of our other coaches,” LaFleur said.
The challenge from LaFleur comes after Love struggled in the final three games of the 2024 season, including a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card Round. Love threw three interceptions in that game, and none of his wide receivers had more than 50 yards.
LaFleur’s message to Love is clear: he needs to step up his leadership game and demand more from his teammates if the Packers are going to succeed next season.
