REPORT: IT’S have been 31 years today, RKK purchased the New England Patriots, being the most successful owner in History.

Thirty-one years ago today, Robert Kraft, also known as RKK, purchased the New England Patriots, marking a significant turning point in the team’s history. This acquisition not only changed the fortunes of the Patriots but also cemented Kraft’s legacy as one of the most successful owners in NFL history .

 

Kraft’s journey to owning the Patriots began long before 1994. A lifelong Patriots fan, Kraft bought a season ticket package in 1971, when the team moved to Schaefer Stadium. His passion for the team only grew stronger over the years, and he eventually became a key player in the team’s future.

In 1985, Kraft purchased a 10-year option on Foxboro Raceway, a horse track adjacent to the stadium, preventing Patriots owner Billy Sullivan from holding non-Patriot events at the stadium while races were being held. This strategic move laid the groundwork for Kraft’s eventual purchase of the team

The opportunity to buy the Patriots arose in 1994, when James Orthwein put the team up for sale. Kraft seized the chance, offering $172 million for an outright purchase, which Orthwein accepted. At the time, it was the highest price ever paid for an NFL team

 

Under Kraft’s ownership, the Patriots have experienced unprecedented success. The team has won six Super Bowl championships, nine conference championships, and 16 division titles. Kraft’s leadership, combined with the expertise of head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady, has created a dynasty that has dominated the NFL for over two decades
