Steelers Eyeing New No. 2 Receiver in Offseason.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are entering the 2025 offseason with a clear agenda: find a reliable No. 2 receiver to complement their young star, George Pickens. The team’s lack of depth at wide receiver was a major issue last season, and it’s an area that they’re determined to address.

According to sources, the Steelers are actively scouting the free agent market and the NFL Draft for a receiver who can fill the void left by JuJu Smith-Schuster’s departure. They’re looking for someone with the speed, agility, and hands to make plays down the field and provide a reliable target for quarterback Kenny Pickett.

One name that’s been linked to the Steelers is that of free agent receiver, Jakobi Meyers. Meyers, who spent the last four seasons with the New England Patriots, has a reputation for being a reliable possession receiver with the ability to make plays in traffic. He’s not a burner, but he’s got the quickness and agility to separate from defenders and make plays down the field.

Another receiver who’s been mentioned as a potential target for the Steelers is Ravens free agent, Sammy Watkins. Watkins, who’s had an injury-plagued career, has the speed and athleticism to be a deep threat, but he’s struggled with consistency and durability. Still, he’s a talented receiver who could provide the Steelers with a spark on offense if he can stay healthy.

In addition to exploring the free agent market, the Steelers are also expected to target receivers in the NFL Draft. One name that’s been linked to the team is that of USC receiver, Jordan Addison. Addison, who’s a projected first-round pick, has the speed, agility, and hands to be a top receiver in the NFL. He’s a bit of a raw prospect, but he’s got the upside to be a game-changer on offense.
