Tom Brady sheds light on longstanding relationship with Bill Belichick

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick parted ways five years ago when the quarterback left the New England Patriots for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

 

There was plenty of speculation about whether there was tension between the two despite Brady and Belichick constantly praising one another.

Brady, during a recent appearance on “The Herd With Colin Cowherd,” said he still has a great relationship with Belichick and that the two had tremendous respect for one another even when they didn’t agree on everything.

I always saw him as someone I was trying to please out there as my coach. And I wanted to be the best I could be for the team. … Were there times when we didn’t see everything eye to eye? Yeah, but that’s 20 years of a relationship,” Brady said. “… I’m not characterizing our relationship based on a few moments that weren’t perfect for either of us. I mean we had as great of a relationship as you can have over a long period of time. We had a tremendous success and there’s no coach I would have rather played for than him.

“… Sometimes, to have a little bit of fear in people is a good thing,” he added. “People should have to wake up and go, ‘Oh, God. I’ve got to go do a good job today, or else.’ I think that’s very motivating.”

 

Brady and Belichick brought a slew of success to New England that included six Super Bowl championships and are both regarded as the best NFL quarterback and coach, respectively.

I have looked back on those moments as the best moments of my life, outside of being a parent, as the things that have shaped me into who I am today,” Brady said

Together Belichick and Brady helped lead two Patriots dynasties that made nine trips to the Super Bowl.
