Jets’ Quincy Williams Praises Aaron Rodgers: ‘He’s a Great Person’ and Essential Leader for 2025 Season
As the New York Jets navigate the offseason, the future of quarterback Aaron Rodgers remains a pivotal topic. Linebacker Quincy Williams has expressed his strong support for Rodgers’ return, emphasizing the quarterback’s profound impact both on and off the field.
“If it was up to me, Aaron Rodgers would be coming back,” Williams stated. “On the field & off the field, he’s a great person. He takes our game to another level.”
Defensive end Jermaine Johnson echoed this sentiment, highlighting Rodgers’ leadership and his ability to elevate teammates’ performance. Johnson recounted instances where Rodgers challenged him during practice, fostering growth and development. “He does a great job of making everyone around him better, which is a very, very key attribute to have in being a good leader, which every quarterback should be,” Johnson noted. “Yes, obviously I’d like to have him back.”
Rodgers, who will turn 42 in December, has faced questions about his future after a challenging season. Despite the team’s struggles, his leadership and experience are viewed as invaluable assets by his teammates. Former teammate Clay Matthews also expressed confidence in Rodgers’ abilities, stating, “He’s still got it. Father Time is catching up, but you give him some protection and some playcalling, playmakers around him, I think he can still get it done.”
With the Jets’ recent appointment of head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey, the organization is at a crossroads. The decision regarding Rodgers’ future will significantly influence the team’s trajectory in the upcoming season. As discussions continue, the support from key players like Williams and Johnson underscores the profound respect and admiration Rodgers commands within the locker room.
As the offseason unfolds, all eyes will be on the Jets’ leadership to see how they navigate this critical juncture and whether Rodgers will lead the team in their pursuit of success in the 2025 season.
