Detroit Lions star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is already thinking big for the team’s future. Fresh off an impressive season, the Pro Bowl receiver recently shared his thoughts on potential offseason moves, including the idea of adding Cleveland Browns superstar Myles Garrett to Detroit’s defense.
A Dream Addition
During a conversation about the Lions’ future, St. Brown entertained the idea of Detroit acquiring an elite pass rusher like Garrett, along with another dynamic playmaker.
“Can you imagine a guy like Myles Garrett on our defense? That would be scary,” St. Brown said. “We already have a great squad, but adding a guy like that and maybe another offensive weapon would take us to the next level.”
Why Myles Garrett?
Garrett, one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL, has been the cornerstone of Cleveland’s defense. However, recent trade speculation has surrounded the All-Pro pass rusher, especially amid reports that he consulted LeBron James about his future. If he were to hit the trade market, Detroit could be an intriguing landing spot.
The Lions’ defense took significant strides in 2023 under defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, but adding a game-wrecking presence like Garrett would elevate their unit to elite status.
Another Offensive Weapon?
On the offensive side, St. Brown hinted that Detroit could benefit from adding another weapon. With quarterback Jared Goff leading a high-powered offense featuring St. Brown, rookie sensation Sam LaPorta, and a strong rushing attack, an additional playmaker could make the Lions even more dangerous.
Potential targets could include another elite wide receiver to complement St. Brown or a versatile running back to bolster the ground game.
Lions Poised for a Big Offseason
Coming off a deep playoff run, Detroit is in a prime position to make key additions and solidify themselves as a Super Bowl contender. Whether or not a trade for Garrett materializes, St. Brown’s vision reflects the team’s growing confidence and ambition heading into 2025.
