Patriots need to acquire $125 million NFL superstar after trade request

The New England Patriots have several needs to address this offseason, but their lack of a pass rush is one of the most important, and it just so happens that there’s a superstar looking for a place to play.

 

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett has requested a trade from the AFC North franchise, and New England needs to make the call

.Garrett, 29, was the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft out of Texas A&M. In his eight seasons, he’s made six Pro Bowls and six All-Pro teams. He also won Defensive Player of the Year in 2023.

In 117 games, Garrett has recorded 200 quarterback hits, 102.5 sacks, 20 forced fumbles, 17 passes defensed and six fumbles recovered.

 

At this point, Garrett has two years remaining on his current deal that’s set to void after the 2026 season. Any team acquiring him in a trade will likely have to get him a new deal before it’s fully agreed to.

The Patriots are looking to revamp their front seven this offseason, and adding a generational talent like Garrett would be the perfect way to start off the Mike Vrabel era.
