It’s Super Bowl week and since the Pittsburgh Steelers don’t have anything going on, we decided to update our seven-round mock draft. The 2025 NFL draft is going to be vital for a Steelers team that continues to struggle in the playoffs. The Steelers offseason needs are very clear and while we expect Pittsburgh to be players in free agency, this draft hits all the biggest needs.
First round – WR Luther Burden III – Missouri
In this scenario, the Steelers have their pick of wide receivers so we opt for Missouri’s Luther Burden. Burden is everything Emeka Egbuka is just turned up a notch and he has proven he can be a dominant receiver without an elite offense around him.
Second round – CB Azareye’h Thomas – Florida State
If the Steelers can land a true No. 1 receiver in the first round, they could be tempted to go for a quarterback here like Jaxson Dart or Jalen Milroe. Both were available but we are passing for a ne starting boundary cornerback in Azareye’h Thomas.
Third round – RB Quinshon Judkins – Ohio State
It’s highly unlikely the Steelers will re-sign Najee Harris so getting Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins here is a value pick. Judkins has impressive vision and surprising power and speed.
Fourth round – QB Riley Leonard – Notre Dame
Patience pays off as the Steelers land quarterback Riley Leonard in the fourth round. Leonard is everything Kenny Pickett was supposed to be but better as an athlete. If the Steelers re-sign Justin Fields, Leonard is in a perfect spot to sit behind him and learn.
Fifth round – DT Jamaree Campbell – Oregon
In the last three rounds we were tempted to select one of a variety of nose tackle prospects and passed so we are glad to see Oregon road grader Jamaree Campbell still available. He’s a two-down nose tackle with impressive power and leverage.
Seventh round – WR LaJohntay Wester – Colorado
A second wide receiver? Yes. Having JaJohntay Wester just sitting there is the seventh was too tempting to pass up. He’s a future star as a punt returner and the ultimate gadget receiver with his speed
Seventh round – LB Teddye Buchanan – Cal
We hope the Steelers bring veteran Elandon Roberts back but that won’t dissuade us from picking Teddye Buchanan. He’s a natural athlete and linebacker with a high football IQ and impressive strength in run support
