WJW) — Former Browns player Kadarius Toney was arrested last week for allegations of assault in Georgia, multiple outlets reported.
Warrants for Toney’s arrest were issued on Jan. 15, a day after he reportedly put his hands around a woman’s throat “with enough force to cause her to be unable to breathe,” court documents obtained by TMZ said.
Court documents showed the 26-year-old was brought into custody at a Douglas County jail on Feb. 6, charged with counts of aggravated assault/strangulation and obstructing emergency calls. Bond was set at $25,000 for each count, according to multiple outlets.
Toney was not in police custody as of Feb. 7, ESPN reported.
TMZ said the documents they obtained showed Toney had taken the woman’s phone from her so she couldn’t call for help. The woman also reportedly had marking on her neck and broken capillaries in the eyes.
The wide receiver had played in three games in the 2024-2025 season with the Browns before being released in December.
Toney was a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, who had spent time with the New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs.
Toney has not released a statement regarding the allegations.
