Oklahoma’s O-Line Overhaul: How the Sooners’ Revamped Unit Will Fuel Their 2025 Success

 

Norman, OK – The Oklahoma Sooners are gearing up for a big 2025 season, and a major key to their success will be the revamped offensive line. After a solid 2024 campaign, the Sooners return four of the five starters who finished the last four games together, with a talented crop of youngsters and experienced newcomers waiting in the wings.

This O-line overhaul has been months in the making, with head coach Brent Venables and his staff working tirelessly to build a unit that can dominate in the trenches. The results are promising, with a deep and talented group of linemen ready to take the field.

“We’re excited about the depth and talent we’ve assembled on the O-line,” said Venables. “These guys have worked hard to develop their skills and build chemistry, and we’re confident they’ll be a major strength for us this season.”

 

The Sooners’ O-line returns a wealth of experience, with four starters back from last year’s unit. Leading the charge is junior tackle Anton Harrison, who has developed into one of the top linemen in the Big 12. Harrison is joined by senior guard Chris Murray, junior center Robert Congel, and sophomore tackle Savion Byrd.

Behind the starters, the Sooners have a talented group of reserves, including sophomore guard Aaryn Parks and freshman tackle Jacob Sexton. The team has also added a pair of experienced transfers in guard McKade Mettauer and tackle Kyle Stanback.

With this deep and talented unit, the Sooners are poised to field one of the top offenses in the country. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel will have plenty of time to operate behind this stout O-line, and running back Eric Gray should find plenty of holes to run through.

 

The Sooners’ O-line overhaul is a major reason why they’re expected to contend for a Big 12 title in 2025. With this unit leading the way, Oklahoma is poised for a big season.
