Former Pittsburgh Steelers secondary coach Grady Brown has a new gig. Brown will be heading to the New Orleans Saints, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. He interviewed for a gig under Kellen Moore’s staff and was well-received, and so the veteran coach now has a new spot in the NFL.
Brown’s first NFL job was with the Steelers, but after four years, they decided to move on. Instead, they brought back secondary coach Gerald Alexander, who had served under Brown as the assistant secondary coach.Brown had been tasked with developing young players such as Joey Porter Jr., Cory Trice Jr., and Beanie Bishop Jr. Yet, what might have done him in was ultimately the communication issues down the season’s stretch.
The Steelers could never fully hash out those issues, and that soured a lot of opinions of Brown in Pittsburgh. Brown interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons’ defensive coordinator job in January, so the league clearly has a high value on who Brown is as a coach, and he will have to prove that right in his new stop with the Saints.
