In a now-viral clip, current Saints TE Juwan Johnson was seen speaking to Sanders, telling him to “get his arm ready,” which fans have taken as an indication that the team might be interested in drafting Deion Sanders’ son.
That said, this outcome seems unlikely due to the Saints having the ninth pick in the draft. Sanders, one of the top two quarterbacks in the draft along with Miami QB Cam Ward, will most likely be selected by a team with a higher pick.
If he falls during the draft, though, he could be a prime contender to go to New Orleans.
Like several other NFL teams, the New Orleans Saints are on the hunt for a reliable quarterback. Reports suggest that veteran QB Derek Carr might not be returning next season.
Sanders, who is one of the best quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft cycle, has the makings of a franchise signal-caller. His skill performance with the Colorado Buffaloes in the 2024 season speaks for itself—not to mention his popularity and legacy as the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders.
Though the Saints’ chances of drafting Sanders, who is projected to be a first-round pick, are slim, there is no doubt that they are interested in the Buffaloes’ quarterback.
During Super Bowl weekend, Sanders spent time with numerous current NFL players, some of whom play for the Saints. A couple of Saints even expressed interest in Sanders joining the team.
Saints EDGE Cam Jordan, while interviewing Shedeur and Deion Sanders, played with the idea of Shedeur falling to No. 9 in the draft and joining the Saints. Though it was presented as a joke, Juwan Johnson, expressing a similar sentiment, hinted that perhaps there has been talk on the matter within the franchise.
