Where do you believe both UK teams should be ranked? After a heroic performance by the Kentucky Wildcats’ Otega Oweh in the team’s 85-84 win over Oklahoma on Thursday, the Wildcats were knocked out of the SEC Tournament in a 99-70 defeat by Alabama on Friday night.
The Florida Gators then beat Alabama on Saturday and went on to best Tennessee on Sunday to win the tournament.
For Kentucky, beating Alabama would have taken a miracle. The Crimson Tide were pretty much at full strength, while the Wildcats were down three of their better guards in Lamont Butler, Jaxson Robinson, and Kerr Kriisa.
Unfortunately, Robinson and Kriisa won’t be returning for an NCAA Tournament run. However, the hope is Butler will be cleared for action in the team’s opening-round game this week.
As we look at the final rankings of the year, Kentucky has moved back from No. 14 to No. 15 in the NET rankings and from No. 13 to No. 16 in the DRatings.
They dropped from No. 18 to No. 21 in the Haslametrics and No. 26 to No. 30 in the EvanMiya rankings.
Kentucky will open NCAA Tournament play on Friday night against Troy. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:10 PM ET with coverage on CBS.
