Michigan baseball player Mitchl Voit has said he is ‘truly sorry’ for his ‘immature’ celebration against USC, when he appeared to mimic taking cocaine on the field.
Voit went viral during Sunday’s 11-0 win over visiting USC, when he toasted the first of three hits by pretending to snort the third-base chalk line.
The incident occurred during the second inning of the game in Ann Arbor, after Voit had cracked an RBI-triple to center.
On Monday, the junior – a native of Milwaukee – spoke out about the celebration.
‘I would like to apologize for my actions on third base yesterday. I made an immature decision in the heat of the moment,’ Voit said in a statement.
‘The gesture I made does not reflect my character, the household I was raised in, or the block M that I represent in any kind of way.
