The Duke Blue Devils, led by Cooper Flagg and Tyrese Proctor, are moving onto the Sweet 16 after dominating their second round opponent.
Duke defeated the Baylor Bears 89-66. They picked up the round of 32 victory after blowing out Mount St. Mary’s in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
During the win over the Bears, Proctor made Duke NCAA Tournament history. Proctor has the most three-pointers made through two games in the NCAA Tournament in Blue Devils history. Upon the release of the historic news, Flagg sent a message about Proctor. Flagg shared high praise for his Duke teammate, deeming him a “weapon” for the Blue Devils.
“I think when Tyrese plays with the type of confidence that he’s been playing with, really this whole second half of the season,” Flagg said, per March Madness. “Just really good for our team. Such a talented player, such a weapon for us when he’s being confidence, looking for his shot.”Proctor capped off the win over Baylor with 25 points, one rebound and two assists. The Duke guard shot 9-of-10 from field goal range and 7-of-8 from the three-point line.
His 25 points and seven triples are both marked as career highs for the Duke star. So far this season, Proctor has averaged 12.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
Flagg finished the game against Baylor with 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
Duke will now prepare for a Sweet 16 matchup, set to play the winner of No. 4 Arizona versus No. 5 Oregon.
