He told the Liverpool Echo: “Five? (Pause) Yes, that’s right (laughter). I had no choice but to be sure. Yes, five goals,” he told reporters after the match against Northern Ireland, recalling England’s recent score.

Yes of course (I want more goals from Liverpool).“It’s a challenge for me, especially at Liverpool, and it’s something I have to work harder at, to score and score goals for Liverpool, especially in the senior roles I play.

“We have a lot of confidence now and we have to take that to Liverpool. We get limited opportunities in front of goal and we have to make sure we can take our chances like we did today (against Northern Ireland).

“My main goal (second goal) was to get a clean call. I looked up and saw the doorman coming out. The only way I can enroll is by chip.

“That’s what I do in training and I’ve scored goals like this before. For me it was natural and I had to make sure I had good connections.

As soon as one person approaches me, the ball starts rolling and I keep going.”He continued: “Honestly, my dad (criticized me for scoring)! Social media is a social network, so things can change quickly. Everyone can love you and everyone can hate you in minutes.

“I don’t pay much attention to it. I just listen to the important people around me – family, coaches, players – who are trying to help me. My father criticizes me a lot.

“There is always something I can do better. My father always pushes me to do my best. So my dad is a great dad. He always wants the best for me. I must continue to listen and learn from the people who are important to me.

“We had a few chances at Liverpool this season and we should have scored, but that’s what happens.” Now all we need is confidence for the next game. It will be much harder to have a chance. But now I have confidence and I have to accept it,” he said.
