The 31-year-old will be looking to continue his goalscoring campaign against Manchester City on Saturday as his record is in sight.

What’s more, he is on the verge of achieving something no Liverpool player has managed to achieve in 36 years.

Salah is two goals away from scoring his 200th goal. He would become the fifth player in Liverpool’s history to reach a double century, and the third to debut for the club in the post-war years.

To put Salah’s incredible goalscoring record into perspective, Liverpool greats Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen, Ian St John and Kevin Keegan all failed to reach 200 goals for the club. The last player to score 200 goals was Ian Rush, who scored for QPR’s David Seaman in March 1987.

Salah has scored 198 goals in a single game, surpassing the Welsh legend’s 200th goal in 321 games for Liverpool.
