Cooper Flagg committed to the Duke Blue Devils as the No. 1 player in the country and there’s a chance he may have exceeded expectations.
As Duke prepares for a Final Four matchup against the Houston Cougars, the accolades for Flagg continued to roll in.
Flagg may still be waiting for the final call on the Naismith National Player of the Year award, but he was recently named the Small Forward of the Year, otherwise known as the Julius Erving Award.
The NCAA’s official March Madness social media account highlighted Flagg’s accomplishment, sending a message on the Duke freshman.
“Another accolade for Cooper Flagg,” posted the NCAA.
Flagg has recorded arguably the best freshman season in Duke basketball history, despite the Blue Devils having one of the best player resumes with stars like Zion Williamson, Jayson Tatum and Kyrie Irving.
Aside from being named the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year, Flagg has already been named the AP National Player of the Year and NABC National Player of the Year.
Throughout his freshman season with the Duke Blue Devils, Flagg has averaged 18.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, all of which leads the team.
He’s also posted quality numbers on the defensive end with 1.3 blocks and 1.4 steals per game
