No.1 American 6-Foot-3 Forward Kianni Westbrook Officially Commits to LSU Tigers Over Alabama, Auburn, and Florida Gators

In a major recruiting win for LSU, top-ranked forward Kianni Westbrook has officially announced her commitment to the LSU Tigers, choosing the program over other powerhouse contenders including Alabama, Auburn, and the Florida Gators. The 6-foot-3 phenom made her decision public during a live-streamed event on Saturday, sending waves of excitement through the college basketball world.

Westbrook, widely regarded as the No.1 forward in the nation, brings a rare combination of size, skill, and court IQ that has scouts and analysts labeling her as a future NCAA star. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Westbrook has dominated high school competition over the past two seasons, averaging 22.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game in her senior year.

LSU head coach Kim Mulkey expressed her excitement in a brief statement, saying, “Kianni is a game-changer. Her presence on both ends of the floor is unmatched. We’re thrilled she’s chosen to wear purple and gold.” Mulkey has built a reputation for attracting top-tier talent to Baton Rouge, and Westbrook’s commitment further cements LSU’s place among the elite.

During her announcement, Westbrook cited the program’s culture, the championship mindset, and the opportunity to develop under Coach Mulkey as key reasons for her decision. “LSU felt like home,” she said. “I want to compete at the highest level, and I believe LSU gives me the best platform to grow as a player and as a person.”

Alabama, Auburn, and Florida were all considered strong contenders in the recruiting race, with each program making multiple visits and pitches to the Westbrook family. Sources close to the recruitment noted that LSU’s recent national success and strong NIL opportunities played a pivotal role in tipping the scales.

High school coach Marcus Daniels, who has mentored Westbrook since her freshman year, called her “the most dedicated and disciplined athlete” he’s ever coached. “She’s the total package — a leader, a competitor, and a student of the game,” he said. “LSU just got better overnight.”
