Kerr Kriisa Announces Transfer to Cincinnati, Concluding Brief Kentucky Tenure
Cincinnati, OH – In a move that underscores the dynamic nature of college basketball’s transfer landscape, veteran guard Kerr Kriisa has committed to the University of Cincinnati for his final season of eligibility. This decision follows a challenging year at the University of Kentucky, where injuries limited his contributions on the court.
A Journey Through Collegiate Basketball
Kriisa’s collegiate journey has been marked by resilience and adaptability. Beginning at the University of Arizona, he showcased his playmaking abilities, leading the Pac-12 in assists during consecutive seasons. Seeking new challenges, he transferred to West Virginia University for the 2023–24 season, where he averaged 11.0 points and 4.7 assists per game. His tenure with the Mountaineers was highlighted by his leadership and sharpshooting, leading the team in three-pointers made.
In May 2024, Kriisa transferred to Kentucky. However, his time with the Wildcats was marred by a foot injury sustained during a game against Gonzaga on December 7, 2024, which required surgery and sidelined him for the remainder of the season. In his nine appearances for Kentucky, Kriisa averaged 4.4 points, 3.8 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game.
Transition to Cincinnati
Following the conclusion of the 2024–25 season, Kriisa entered the transfer portal once again, seeking an opportunity to make a significant impact in his final collegiate year. On April 6, 2025, he announced his commitment to the Cincinnati Bearcats, marking his fourth collegiate program.
Cincinnati’s head coach, Wes Miller, expressed enthusiasm about the addition of Kriisa to the roster. “Kerr brings a wealth of experience and a competitive edge that will be invaluable to our team. His leadership and skill set align perfectly with our vision for the upcoming season,” Miller stated.
Anticipation for the Upcoming Season
As Kriisa prepares to don the Bearcats’ uniform, expectations are high for his contribution to the team’s performance in the Big 12 Conference. His journey reflects the evolving nature of college athletics, where athletes navigate opportunities and challenges to find the right fit for their talents and aspirations.
Cincinnati fans eagerly await the impact of this seasoned guard, hopeful that his experience and determination will propel the Bearcats to new heights in the forthcoming season.
