The club’s iconic former manager is set to be the guest speaker at the LFC Foundation gala dinner at Liverpool Cathedral on Friday, May 23.

Klopp has also been invited to the final game of the season against Crystal Palace at Anfield two days later when Arne Slot’s side could be presented with the Premier League trophy. However, whether Klopp will attend that fixture is yet to be confirmed.

The 57-year-old German has not been to Anfield for a match since the end of his memorable eight-and-a-half-year reign last May. Initially, he took a break from football before starting a new role as Red Bull’s head of global soccer in January.

Klopp supported the charitable work of the LFC Foundation throughout his tenure on Merseyside and agreed to become an honorary ambassador following his departure last summer

His presence at the foundation’s gala dinner, which is expected to be officially confirmed this week, will provide a major boost to their fundraising efforts with tables of 10 costing between £2,500 and £4,500.

Liverpool, who are 11 points clear of second-placed Arsenal, need a maximum of 11 points from their remaining seven league matches to be crowned champions.

If Slot’s side win the league, an open-top bus parade around the city will take place on Monday, May 26. Klopp’s Liverpool were denied that honour due to the global pandemic when they ended the club’s 30-year wait for a top-flight title in 2019-20.

Speaking at a charity event in South Africa recently, Klopp suggested that he would be present if a parade was held. “Yes, the plan is (to be in Liverpool) but not on the bus,” he said.

“That’s the idea to be honest, but we will see. I think I will be there for the last game. I didn’t want to go earlier to be honest because I didn’t want to jinx it. So I go there when it’s decided.”
