The Duke Blue Devils basketball team recently received significant transfer portal news following the 2024-25 college basketball season.
With the college basketball portal window set to close at the end of Tuesday, players are scrambling to finalize their decisions.
Duke has seen several players depart, either through the portal or by declaring for NBA Draft. Despite these losses, head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff believe they’ve assembled a roster for the 2025-26 season that can compete at the highest level.
The latest departure is considered an impactful loss-not necessarily because of on-court production, but due to his leadership and presence in the locker room. Widely regarded as a “glue guy,” this player played a key role in helping the Blue Devils reach the 2025 NCAA Final Four.
Stanley Borden announced he was going to head into the transfer portal. Borden posted this heartfelt message thanking his coaches, teammates and fans.
One of his teammates with the Blue Devils, Khaman Maluach had a clear and strong n response: “Good luck Brodie.”
Maluach, the 7-foot-2 center from South Sedan, played just one season at Duke, scoring 8.6 points and ripping down 6.6 rebounds per game.
Duke finished the season with an impressive 35-4 record. The Blue Devils advanced to the NCAA Tournament Final Four, where they were ultimately defeated by Houston in San Antonio. Duke lost just one conference game all season.
Borden joined Duke from Turkey and became a four-time letter-winner during his career with the Blue Devils.
In May 2023, he was recognized by the ACC as part of Duke’s Top Six for Service Award. As part of that honor, he organized and coordinated a 7.8-kilometer run to raise funds for earthquake relief efforts in Turkey and Syria. His final appearance came against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, where he played two minutes and recorded a blocked shot.
