BOOM! 4-Star Guard Sanai Green Commits to Duke, Giving Blue Devils Another Major Recruiting Win”

In another big win on the recruiting trail for head coach Kara Lawson and the Duke women’s basketball program, four-star guard Sanai Green has officially committed to the Blue Devils. The talented Class of 2026 prospect made her announcement on Sunday via Instagram, marking the second significant commitment for Duke in just one week.

Green, a dynamic 5-foot-10 guard, is ranked No. 28 overall in ESPN’s 2026 rankings and brings a strong combination of athleticism, scoring ability, and court vision to the table. Despite missing part of her junior season due to a knee injury, her talent and upside have kept her among the most sought-after guards in her class.

Green currently plays for the nationally renowned Long Island Lutheran High School in New York — a powerhouse program that regularly competes at the highest level in high school girls’ basketball. Before transferring to New York, she was a standout at The Steward School in Richmond, Virginia, where she made her name known early on. Over the course of her three varsity seasons there, Green averaged an impressive 20.1 points per game, demonstrating elite scoring instincts and leadership on the court.

Green’s commitment to Duke came after receiving offers from a host of elite programs including North Carolina, Purdue, and USC, among others. But in the end, the culture, vision, and opportunity at Duke won her over.

“It felt like home,” Green said in her Instagram post. “I’m ready to be part of something special — to grow as a player and person at a school that values both.”

With her decision, Green becomes the second commit in Duke’s 2026 class, joining forward Taylor Sofilkanich, who also made her pledge to the Blue Devils earlier this week. Together, the duo represents the foundation of what is shaping up to be a strong and balanced recruiting class for Lawson and her staff.

Kara Lawson has made waves since taking over the program in 2020, quickly turning Duke into a desirable destination for top-tier talent. Her emphasis on player development, leadership, and a professional approach to the college game has resonated with recruits across the country.

Green’s versatility as a combo guard gives the Blue Devils flexibility in the backcourt. She can handle the ball, create for others, and knock down shots from the perimeter, all while playing aggressive defense — a must in Duke’s system.

Recruiting insiders believe that Green’s stock will continue to rise as she fully recovers from injury and gets back into top form. Her high basketball IQ, experience at elite levels of high school competition, and ability to lead make her a perfect fit for the “Sisterhood” that Lawson continues to build.

With two high-profile commitments already on board, momentum is clearly on Duke’s side. As the Blue Devils look to remain competitive in the ACC and nationally in the years to come, the addition of a talent like Sanai Green is another powerful step forward.
