Locked In: 4-Star Safety Wayne Henry Says Auburn ‘Feels Like Home’ After Powerful OV
AUBURN, Ala. — After a visit that checked every box and left a lasting impression, Wayne Henry, one of the top defensive backs in the 2025 class, may be inching closer to a final decision — and Auburn is looking more and more like home.
The 4-star safety out of Cocoa High School (Florida) wrapped up his official visit (OV) to Auburn University over the weekend, and by all accounts, it was a transformative experience.
“Auburn feels like home,” Henry told reporters following the visit. “The energy, the coaches, the people — everything just clicked.”
A Major Priority for the Tigers
Ranked among the top safeties nationally and holding over 20 Power Five offers, Henry has long been on Auburn’s radar. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive standout boasts a rare blend of size, speed, and instinct that makes him one of the most coveted players at his position.
But while competition for his commitment remains fierce — with schools like Florida State, Miami, and LSU still in the mix — Auburn has surged to the front of the pack.
“They’re making me a priority, and I feel that,” said Henry. “Coach [Wesley] McGriff and Coach [Hugh] Freeze really laid out their vision for me — how they see me fitting into the defense, how I could be a leader on the back end. That means something.”
A Visit That Left an Impact
Henry’s official visit wasn’t just about football — it was about feeling the culture, connecting with the players, and envisioning life in Auburn beyond the field.
Sources say he spent considerable time with current Tigers DBs, toured academic facilities, and met with support staff and mentors, including Auburn’s strength and conditioning coaches.
“It wasn’t just a recruiting pitch,” Henry added. “It felt genuine. I talked with players who’ve already been through the transition. I saw how they work, how they’re treated. I could really see myself here.”
What’s Next?
While Henry hasn’t named a commitment date, he hinted that a decision could come before the start of his senior season. Auburn, it seems, has done everything right to position itself at the top of his list.
“I’ve still got some thinking to do, but this visit definitely gave me a lot to think about,” he said. “Right now, Auburn is standing out.”
With momentum building and the staff maintaining strong communication, don’t be surprised if Henry pulls the trigger and commits sooner rather than later.
The Bottom Line
Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class continues to gain steam, and landing Wayne Henry would be a signature win on the defensive side of the ball. The Tigers are pushing hard — and after this weekend’s powerful OV, it’s clear
that the feeling is mutual.
