Two Kentucky Wildcats sign free agent deals with NBA teams

The Kentucky Wildcats are sending shockwaves in the NBA! After Koby Brea and Amari Williams were drafted in the second round of the 2025 NBA draft, two more former Wildcats landed lucrative deals. Lamont Butler and Andrew Carr have signed contracts with the Atlanta Hawks and Portland Trail Blazers, respectively.

Butler, the fearless point guard who led the Wildcats with his clutch performances, will join the Hawks on a two-way contract. His leadership and gutsy play were instrumental in UK’s Sweet 16 run last season. Butler’s ability to perform under pressure and make big plays will undoubtedly serve him well in the NBA. He’ll be a valuable asset to the Hawks, bringing his unique blend of speed, agility, and court vision to the team.

Carr, a versatile big man who could play both inside and outside, will take his talents to the Trail Blazers. Both players were crucial to Mark Pope’s first season at Kentucky, and their hard work has paid off. Carr’s ability to score from multiple levels and stretch the defense will make him a valuable asset to the Blazers.
