Indeed, while the Reds brought in four new midfield players during the last transfer window, it still feels as though they’re one short in that department.
After the departure of Fabinho, the Reds still don’t have a true quality number six in their side to sit in front of the defence and hold down the midfield. January reinforcements could be on the way, and according to Christian Falk, speaking to CaughtOffside, Joshua Kimmich could be a player the Reds turn towards as Jurgen Klopp is said to be a fan of the German’s talents and he could soon be on the market.
“Pep Guardiola is considered a big fan of Kimmich after having initially discovered and promoted him in Munich. The City coach appreciates Kimmich’s versatility as he can play in many positions,” Falk said.
“But Jürgen Klopp also knows Kimmich’s strengths, which would suit Liverpool FC well. The poker for Kimmich could soon be open.” Can Joshua Kimmich do it in the Premier League?
Liverpool did plenty of work on their midfield in the summer, but they may not be finished yet.
Joshua Kimmich is undoubtedly a top-class footballer, but we can’t help but question whether or not his abilities are suited to the Premier League.
