Klopp has confirmed Joel Matip is expected to be out for an extended period after he suffered an ankle injury against Fulham. The defender tried to play on after hurting himself while clearing the ball in the second half and needed to be substituted.

Klopp was asked for an update on Matip’s injury after his team’s dramatic victory at Anfield. He said: “We lost Joel. We obviously have no scan yet but after what you hear and can see, that will not be a short one. Unlucky but we have to get through this.”

On the game itself, Klopp added: “I don’t think I ever saw a game with this amount of beautiful goals. We scored incredible goals today, but because we were a bit dumb we almost gave it away… the defending was awful. Football is decided in details.”
