Liverpool are looking to sign Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix, while Kylian Mbappe has made a decision on his future after leaving Real Madrid.
Liverpool will be without Joel Matip for the rest of the season. The Cameroonian has been injured for a long time and is expected to be out for several months.
Jurgen Klopp said earlier today that he does not believe Liverpool will enter the January transfer window, but that it would be a gamble. Liverpool must make the most of the promising position they are in, although they are slightly ahead in the table and would benefit from a weak Manchester City.
As a result, Matip will be out for several months with a serious knee injury and the Daily Mirror report that Liverpool are considering a move for 23-year-old Wolfsburg centre-back Maxence Lacroix.
It seems like a reasonable option, available for around $32 million. However, Kylian Mbappe is unlikely to be acquired. Liverpool.com brings you the biggest stories in European football today, with Lacroix and Mbappe starring ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Crystal Palace.
Maxence Lacroix’s interesting verdict on his relationship with LiverpoolAs mentioned above, Klopp said in his press conference that the Reds are unlikely to sign anyone in the middle of the season, but Liverpool cannot be ruled out as they have done well in both January transfer windows.
If Liverpool were to consider signing a defender, a player like Lacroix would make sense. He has good experience and a high ceiling. The Bundesliga’s official website even compared him to the best player, Rio Ferdinand.
In 2020/21 he was the fourth fastest German player, beaten only by Jeremiah St Juste, Erling Holland and Alphonso Davies.
According to Liverpool.com, not signing the defender would be a big gamble for Liverpool. Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez are unreliable when it comes to fitness, especially when the workload has to increase.
The reds are struggling on all fronts and decent quality bets are not the way to go for most people. Furthermore, Matip’s contract expires at the end of the season, so replacing him six months early would be expensive.
