UNC basketball rules out center for rest of season

The North Carolina Tar Heels are dealing with issues in the front court as they head into the final stretch of the season. Not only have Caleb Wilson and Henri Veesaar missed games but also backups, including James Brown, have been out.

On Friday came the news that Brown will miss the rest of the season. Coach Hubert Davis announced the center had undergone surgery on his right foot.

In his second season, Brown appeared in nine games, averaging 5.6 minutes per game. He scored 11 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out three assists, and had two blocked shots. Brown hasn’t appeared in a game since Dec. 22.

The 6-foot-10 center hails from Aurora, Illinois, and joined UNC as part of a three-man recruiting class. He struggled to get playing time last season despite the Tar Heels having no post depth. This year was supposed to be a year in which he developed but the injury has now held him back.
