Elliot Cadeau may have taken subtle shot at UNC basketball

Point guard Elliot Cadeau came up big for Michigan late in their win over Wisconsin in Saturday’s Big Ten Tournament semifinal game. With a big bucket from Cadeau, the Wolverines punched their ticket to the title game on Sunday against Purdue. With the game tied, Cadeau missed a three-pointer. But he got a second chance after a Wolverines’ rebound and that attempt found its wa in.

After the game, Cadeau spoke on his shot as well as the confidence he has this season while at Michigan. In the process, his answer may have been a bit of a subtle shot at Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels.

“Yeah, I feel like the past probably two years of my life I haven’t been wired like that [with confidence through trials], but thanks to my coaching staff, I’m now wired like that,” Cadeau said. “I was wired like that in high school. So, them just giving me confidence, my teammates giving me confidence to just shoot it again even if I miss, they don’t care if I miss again.”

When I read that, I couldn’t help but think of Cadeau’s time at North Carolina which was the past two seasons. He had some big moments but did struggle to shoot the ball. He’s shooting it better from the three-point line this season and maybe that’s because of his confidence.

Even if it is just a small, not-on-purpose shot at Davis and UNC, it’s still something he said. And he may not really be wrong, either.
