3 Big Coaches Have Already Withdrawn From The UNC Job

Three big-time coaches have already withdrawn from consideration for the North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball job.

UNC fired head coach Hubert Davis this week. Davis, who led the Tar Heels to a Final Four – and multiple big wins over Duke – early in his tenure, replacing the legendary Roy Williams, was let go by the Chapel Hill school this week. UNC had fallen to VCU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

“Tonight, I was let go by the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. My desire was to continue to coach here. This opportunity has truly been such a blessing. I thank Jesus literally every day for giving me the opportunity, relationships and experiences with the kids and my staff. I am very proud of what we were able to accomplish together. My goal is to coach again in the very near future,” Davis said in a statement.
