Michael Malone and his coaching staff are putting together the roster for his first season as North Carolina’s coach. He has an impressive transfer portal and recruiting class coming in, but there’s room to add. Now, it sounds like the Tar Heels have their eyes set on a four-star recruit in the 2026 class.
Inside Carolina’s Sherrell McMillan reported on Monday that the program will host Kevin Thomas on an upcoming visit. Thomas is a former LSU commit who decommitted in April. The talented forward out of Florida has reopened his recruitment and has a connection to North Carolina. His agent is former Tar Heel K.J. Smith.
The 6-foot-6, 195-pound Thomas has 13 offers in his recruitment and has taken four visits: LSU, Florida State, Miami and Auburn. With the Tar Heels needing some help on the wing, pursuing Thomas makes a lot of sense. He is No. 79 nationally, the No. 32 small forward and the No. 13 player in the state of Florida per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
