Pat Nevin has accused Liverpool of “cheating” a “bizarre” moment against Newcastle.

“The only disappointment in a bright, open and exciting game was the penalty awarded to Diogo Iotta. “The referees know the rules.

So, after careful consideration, VAR agreed that the faintest touch from the striker, followed by a late throw-in, should have resulted in a penalty,” the former Chelsea star wrote in the BBC Football Extra newsletter (via BBC Sport).

“Not only that, they gave the yellow card to the goalkeeper and not to Jota. It shows where the laws and morals of the game are now.

This is nothing but fraud.”From a major leaguer to a kid under 11 doing nothing but diving, who can you blame?” “It was a bizarre moment in the beautiful game.

Ironically, even Newcastle’s No.1 felt he deserved a penalty. Is his opinion very valid in this particular case?

We agree with Nevin that true diving is something that should be completely wiped off the face of the earth. But we were disappointed to see him call Jota a fraud.
