A look back at the Reds recent history against Brentford

Liverpool and Brentford don’t play often, but when they do, it usually results in good results for the Reds.Let us take you through the last five meetings between the clubs and take a look at the results. 25 September 2021 – Premier League – Liverpool 3 Brentford 3This was the most exciting match between the two clubs in a long time. This was Liverpool’s previous season, so Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up this autumn included the likes of Fabinho, Sadio Mane, Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson. Liverpool took a 2-1 lead through Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah. In the 67th minute, young Curtis Jones restored the lead.

Liverpool looked set to escape with a win until an 82nd-minute goal from Yoan Wissa gave the hosts a boost.16 January 2022 – Premier League – Liverpool 3 Brentford 0It was a comfortable performance on the day, but the Reds’ goal triumvirate produced one of the most surprising performances for a long time. Takumi Minamino, Fabinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all scored. It was rare to see Fabinho and Ochs score for the club. In one match, both men achieved incredible results. On this day the bees didn’t sting as they made their way through the Anfield crowd braving the cold winter air.

2 January 2023 – Premier League – Brentford 3 Liverpool 1We still remember this season because last season was a period of difficult results. During this period the situation was at its bleakest and these results indicated that. A hard feeling to remember this game: Thiago-Harvey Elliott-Ochs were the starting trio in Liverpool’s midfield. What is even more surprising is that Elliott was replaced by Naby Keita.Ibrahim Konate’s poor own goal opened the scoring and Brentford played with confidence throughout the game. Brian Mbuemo’s late counter-attack sealed the points for the Wasps and added to the misery for Klopp and his team.Fortunately, this was one of the last disappointing games before the season took a turn for the better in the spring. But that was a microcosm of the challenges we faced last season.

6 May 2023 – Premier League – Liverpool 1 Brentford 0Almost five months later, Liverpool got their revenge on Wasps as Mohamed Salah’s solitary goal made the difference on the day. It comes as Liverpool battle to save their season and finish in the top four. Although they did not meet this goal, the results gave them much of what they had hoped for. Klopp was very aggressive with Jota, Salah, Darwin Nunes and Cody Gakpo starting the game. Despite this firepower, it was still a skill in demand by boys. In the end it was a free portion, which will be a very good result for the game on Saturday.

12 November 2023 – Premier League – Liverpool 3 Brentford 0These two sides met months before the very prolific lineup of holiday programming really began.
