Angel Reese and Flau’jae Johnson Confirm Relationship: LSU Stars Make It Official

In a moment that’s sending shockwaves through the world of college sports, former LSU basketball star Angel Reese and current LSU guard Flau’jae Johnson have officially confirmed they are dating. After months of speculation and fan theories, the two athletes made the announcement via a joint Instagram post that simply read, “My person. Always has been,” accompanied by a photo of the two holding hands courtside.

The post went viral within minutes, sparking an outpouring of support from fans, fellow athletes, and celebrities alike. “Y’all are beautiful together,” commented WNBA star A’ja Wilson, while rapper Latto dropped a series of heart emojis under the post. LSU’s official women’s basketball account reposted the photo with the caption, “Purple and Gold love.”

This announcement ends months of speculation. The pair’s chemistry on and off the court during the 2022-2023 championship season was undeniable. Fans noticed the duo’s close bond, from viral TikToks to post-game hugs that lingered just a little longer than most. Still, both Reese and Johnson had consistently denied rumors of a romantic relationship—until now.

In an exclusive interview with Essence, Flau’jae shared, “Angel and I have always had a deep connection. It started as friendship, turned into a sisterhood, and eventually into love. We didn’t plan it—it just happened naturally.” Reese added, “Flau has been my peace through a lot of chaos. Being with her feels like home.”

The pair admitted that keeping their relationship private wasn’t easy, especially given their public personas. “We knew people would talk, whether we were together or not,” said Reese. “But we wanted to protect what we had until we were ready to share it on our own terms.”

According to the interview, the two began dating in late 2023 but chose to keep things quiet as they focused on their respective careers—Reese transitioning to the WNBA and modeling world, and Johnson continuing to shine both on the court and in her rising rap career.

Coach Kim Mulkey, who coached both athletes at LSU, expressed her support in a brief statement: “I love those two. They brought fire and heart to our program. I’m proud of them for being true to themselves.”

Fans have already dubbed the couple “ReeJae” and are flooding social media with support. “They are the power couple of the sports world now,” one user tweeted. “Two queens doing what they love and loving who they love.”

While Reese is now playing professionally with the Chicago Sky, she mentioned that distance hasn’t been an issue. “We make it work. FaceTime is our best friend,” she laughed. “And I’m in Baton Rouge more than people think.”
