Even if you don’t follow the Premier League closely, you’ve probably heard of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, who has spent the last five years building a legacy as one of the greatest players in the club’s history.
Eredivisie.Salah produced another impressive performance last weekend, scoring twice and adding an assist in a 4-2 win over Saudi Arabia-backed Newcastle United.
The goal took Salah over the 150-point mark for Liverpool, becoming only the fifth player to do so at the same club. He joins the likes of Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero.
Salah’s historic phase has been exciting for both Liverpool FC and his fans, but one organization that is not interested in a move is Carlsberg.
Beer company Carlsberg, which has a long-standing association with Liverpool and was the club’s main kit sponsor from 1992 to 2010, sponsors the LFC end-of-match award for the team’s best player.
As Salah is a devout Muslim and does not drink alcohol, all of his Man of the Match content *does* not feature the Carlsberg logo in honor of the 31-year-old Egyptian.
Much of it was due to its almost alien dominance. Here’s Liverpool’s best player against Burnley, Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunes.
Salah’s performances this season, and Liverpool’s as a whole, have put Jurgen Klopp’s side top of the Premier League in 2024, three points clear of second-placed Aston Villa and five points clear of three times defending champions.
Manchester City, who hosted the match, and the oil nation of the United Arab Emirates, who finance it.
