Buckeyes Freshman Calls Rod Moore ‘Washed’: Michigan Captain Responds With a Silent Stare

COLUMBUS, OH — Just weeks before the most anticipated edition of The Game, tensions have reached a boiling point after an Ohio State freshman wide receiver reportedly called Michigan defensive captain Rod Moore “washed” in a now-deleted podcast clip that has gone viral across college football circles.

The comment came from Buckeyes freshman Kameron Fields, a four-star recruit from Texas, who was a guest on the Campus Blitz podcast hosted by OSU students. When asked about facing Moore and Michigan’s secondary this year, Fields smirked and said,

“He’s solid, I guess. But he’s small. And let’s be real—he’s a fifth-year guy. Man’s washed. It’s our turn now.”

The moment caught fire on social media within hours. Michigan fans immediately rallied behind their team captain, flooding the post with highlights of Moore’s clutch interceptions, big-time tackles, and playoff-level performances from the Wolverines’ 2023 national title run.

Reporters at Michigan’s press availability the next day asked Moore if he had heard the comment. The senior didn’t say a word. Instead, he simply stared at the camera for a long five seconds before walking off the podium—no smile, no joke, just cold silence.

“He doesn’t talk much, but trust me, he heard it,” said junior linebacker Junior Colson. “That look he gave? That’s danger.”

Head coach Sherrone Moore was asked if the quote would be used as bulletin board material in the Michigan locker room. His response?

“Let’s just say… the tape speaks, and Rod always answers between the whistles.”

Moore, who returned for his final season despite NFL buzz, has become the emotional and tactical leader of Michigan’s defense. Teammates describe him as a “calm punisher”—the kind of player who remembers every slight and turns it into fuel on the field.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day tried to downplay the controversy during his Wednesday press conference:

“It’s just a young guy talking. He’s excited, and sometimes you say things you don’t fully understand yet. We respect Michigan and their players.”

Still, former Wolverines and analysts weren’t ready to let it slide. Former Michigan cornerback Jourdan Lewis posted on X:

“Calling Rod Moore washed is like calling Ed Reed soft. You about to learn, young man.”

The two teams meet in Week 13 at the Big House, a game already loaded with playoff implications. Now, thanks to a freshman’s bold jab and a captain’s icy silence, it feels like a personal war has begun.
