Burnley have issued a warning to fans sitting in the hospitality area ahead of their visit to Liverpool on Boxing Day.

 

Burnley FC said some Liverpool fans may be at home on Boxing Day but have been warned to be on their best behaviour.

‘This is the Burnley we want to see’: Micah Richards has some faith… It follows the controversial scenes at Burnley’s last home game, a 2-0 defeat to Everton, where they celebrated by visiting fans with meal tickets at the home game.

Just after Everton scored twice, James Hargreaves took a break at the front of the stand in the first half. The video went viral on social media and several Burnley fans reported the matter to the club.

Bystanders said the children were embarrassed by the confrontation and crew members were criticized for their lack of action. After a subsequent internal investigation, the Clarets admitted their level of defense was “lower” than expected.

Ahead of Liverpool’s visit on Boxing Day, Burnley have taken the step of issuing a “sensitive” warning to all fans in the area. “The hospitality area will host a mix of home and away fans,” Clarets said.

“The away team are reminded that they are guests of Turf Moor and must always be careful to respect this and support their team. “Any guest who negatively impacts the experience of others will be asked to leave the venue.

“Our stewards have a zero tolerance policy for shouting at home games and we will be strict about that. 

Fans who are sent off may be banned from the stadium and the away team’s club will be notified.”Fans wearing brightly colored clothing or displaying merchandise related to the away team may be refused entry or ejected from the stadium.

“However, the Clarets have announced that they will not allow Liverpool fans to sit in general admission areas. The club added: “Tickets for home games are for club fans only.”

“If you are a fan of the visiting club, your ticket may be canceled and any costs associated with your purchase will not be refunded.”

Burnley also said they had a “zero tolerance” policy for singing about the tragedy and warned supporters not to say anything “offensive or insulting”.
