Chelsea duo deactivate social media accounts following abuse after Liverpool loss

Chelsea midfielders Enzo Fernandes and Moises Caicedo stopped the X handle. CFCDaily posted screenshots of both X profiles, indicating that both players’ profiles could not be found and were suspended. It is believed to have been made after both players received heavy criticism online from fans and pundits for their poor performance against Liverpool at Anfield.

The leaders lost at home 4-1. Chelsea raised concerns on the pitch and Fernandes and Caicedo were heavily criticized for not cooperating with Liverpool’s media. The defeat leaves the Blues in 10th place with 31 points from 22 games. Much of the criticism stemmed from the fact that both players signed huge contracts with Chelsea last year. The Blues paid Benfica £107m for Fernandes in January 2023, while Caicedo signed for a British record £115m from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer.
