Chelsea midfielders Enzo Fernandes and Moises Caicedo stopped the X handle. CFCDaily posted screenshots of both X profiles, indicating that both players’ profiles could not be found and were suspended. It is believed to have been made after both players received heavy criticism online from fans and pundits for their poor performance against Liverpool at Anfield.
The leaders lost at home 4-1. Chelsea raised concerns on the pitch and Fernandes and Caicedo were heavily criticized for not cooperating with Liverpool’s media. The defeat leaves the Blues in 10th place with 31 points from 22 games. Much of the criticism stemmed from the fact that both players signed huge contracts with Chelsea last year. The Blues paid Benfica £107m for Fernandes in January 2023, while Caicedo signed for a British record £115m from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer.
Chelsea lose 4-1 to LiverpoolThe Reds beat Chelsea 4-1 at Anfield. Diogo Jota opened the scoring for the hosts after a successful deflection put the ball at his feet. Youngster Conor Bradley doubled the lead with a powerful low ball from a tight angle to the far post.
Liverpool missed the chance to take a 3-0 lead when Darwin Nunez hit Jota’s penalty onto the bar. Dominic Szoboslay headed in Bradley’s cross and scored the third goal. Chelsea pulled back with a point through Christopher Nkunku’s smart strike, but Liverpool regained their three-goal cushion thanks to Luis Diaz’s winner. Chelsea’s next game is against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the league at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, February 4.
