Chelsea have made the first move to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window, signing a €120m deal from the Serie A side.
Liverpool were linked with the 25-year-old in October 2023 after it was claimed the Reds had agreed personal terms with Osimhen.
Walter De Maggio told Televomero via Sport Witness: “We’ve been joined by another Premier League club. I’m talking about Liverpool. “I was contacted frequently, but I found out another thing: an agreement had already been reached.”
“To be clear: the deal is between Reds and the player, so Napoli are not involved.” “I hope Laurentiis can keep Victor Osimhen at least until the season, but we are not sure.”
However, despite genuine interest from Liverpool, this did not materialise.
Chelsea are making ambitious moves to sign Osimhen despite pressure from FFP. Todd Bohly has spent more than £1billion on transfer fees since taking over from Roman Abramovich – and that figure is likely to be much higher.

Chelsea are ready to release 120 million euros from Osimhen’s contract through Calcio Napoli, according to Italian publication Il Mattino.
They will be keen to sign the Nigerian striker in the summer transfer window and one thing is clear at this stage: Liverpool will not be competing with them in the process.
