Feyenoord manager Brian Priske has sent a message to Liverpool boss Arne Slot after his team performed a remarkable comeback against Manchester City. Tuesday night saw the Eredivisie club face City in the Champions League clash at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola’s side had taken a 3-0 lead against Feyenoord with a brace from Erling Haaland supported by a goal from Ilkay Gundogan. However, things unravelled quickly in the second half for City as goals from Anis Hadj Moussa, Santiago Gimenez and David Hancko saw the game finish 3-3 as Guardiola failed to win for the sixth consecutive game.
Liverpool are due to face Man City in the Premier League this Sunday after Anfield, and currently have an eight-point advantage at the top of the table. Slot has helped guide the Reds to the top of the standings, having previously spent three years as manager at Feyenoord before being replaced by Priske.
Feyenoord appointed Priske as Slot’s successor in the summer, with Liverpool previously going up against the 47-year-old last season when he was manager at Sparta Prague. Priske was asked if his predecessor, Slot, would be happy at watching Feyenoord’s comeback against Man City and went on to send a message to the Reds boss.
“I’m sure he’s [Slot] proud,” Priske told Amazon Prime Sport. “As an ex-Feyenoord manager, I’m sure he’s following [results], I know that.
“We’ve definitely done everything we could to help him as well. He had a massive impact on the club over the last three years, he definitely gave me a good start as well, with a good team and Champions League [qualification].
“So I’m really happy that, hopefully, we can help him a bit, and he needs to do the dirty job at the weekend [against Man City].”
