The Dallas Mavericks were the most-talked-about team in the NBA this season. Their decision to trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers will be a subject of debate until the end of time.
Likewise, Duke star Cooper Flagg was the biggest sensation in all of college basketball. As such, he retained his status as the consensus first-overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Mavericks fans got some good karma after the Doncic trade, and the team won the NBA Draft lottery. With that in mind, the media asked the Duke sensation their thoughts on potentially being a Maverick.
Cooper Flagg raves about Mavericks’ roster
“I’m grateful to get this opportunity, or any opportunity to hear my name called on draft night,” Flagg told the Dallas Hoops Journal. “I’m just really excited for this whole experience. Not everybody gets to go through this, so I just feel really blessed. As far as Dallas goes, they’ve got a lot of really good pieces.”
Of course, anything can happen until the day of the NBA Draft, and Mavericks GM Nico Harrison has shown that he’s more than willing to roll the dice and make unusual decisions.
Then again, barring a shocking turn of events that would most likely lead to his firing, we can rest assured that Cooper Flagg will be a Dallas Maverick by the start of next season.
