Liverpool continued their flying start to the Premier League season on Sunday but there are still questions to answer off the pitch.
Arne Slot’s Reds survived a scare to eventually come out on top against Southampton. Russell Martin’s team took a surprise lead after conceding to Dominik Szoboszlai early on, only for Mohamed Salah to decide the game in Liverpool’s favour.
Salah has been back to his best this season, but the Egypt forward’s contract situation remains an issue. He will be free to talk to potential suitors in January ahead of a potential summer exit, unless the Reds agree new terms with him before then.

It’s a potential distraction at the start of a big week, with matches against Real Madrid and Manchester City looming large.
Salah’s contract statement
Mohamed Salah has claimed he is more out than in when it comes to a new contract. The forward is showing no signs of slowing down on the pitch, but claims he has yet to receive an offer of a new deal from the higher-ups.
“We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club,” the former Roma star said. “I’m probably more out than in.
“You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future. I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”
Szoboszlai retains Salah hope
Dominik Szoboszlai has not given up on remaining part of a Liverpool team containing Mohamed Salah for the long run. This season is the second in which the pair have shared a pitch, and the Hungarian international has offered an optimistic outlook.
“Everybody knows Mo, he just needs to keep going,” Szoboszlai said after Sunday’s win at St Mary’s. “Hopefully I can play with him as long as I can!”
