Chelsea took on Everton in the Premier League this Saturday and came away with a 1-0 win. It could prove vital in their race for Champions League football next season, and one man truly stood out on the day.
The Blues dominated the first half and got the breakthrough in the 27th minute when Beto was robbed by Trevoh Chalobah inside his own half. The ball broke to Enzo Fernandez, who fired it quickly into the feet of Nicolas Jackson. The striker took one touch before expertly blasting a shot into the back of the net from the edge of the box.
After the break, Everton put up more of a fight and actually looked the more likely of the two teams to score. It certainly was an edgy finish for Chelsea but they just about got across the line to pick up a 1-0 win.
Having claimed a vital three points in their race for Champions League football, Enzo Maresca ought to be grateful for the efforts of Romeo Lavia, who was magnificent in the middle of the park.
