Former Manchester United talent set to sign contract and stay at Liverpool

 

Liverpool are set to stave off interest from other clubs and tie down a talented youngster.

The Reds are currently enjoying some great success with their academy graduates. The likes of Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah have shown this season that if you’ve got the talent, it is possible to make the leap to the Liverpool senior team.

One of those hoping to do that in the near future is attacking midfielder Kieran Morrison.

 

17-year-old Morrison has so far not been around the first-team, but has been excelling with the U18s this season. Five goals and three assists in 11 games is impressive.

And according to journalist Fabrizio Romano on X, this is set to see the Northern Irishman sign a new deal with the Reds despite interest from elsewhere.

“Liverpool talent Kieran Morrison set to sign new three year deal at the club despite being linked with move away last summer,” says Romano. “2006 born midfielder has verbally agreed to new contract, soon time to review documents and then announced.”

If Liverpool are minded to offer Morrison a new contract, then there must be some level of excitement over his potential.

 

So far, we really haven’t heard all that much about the teenager in regards to the first-team. He’s certainly yet to earn himself a call-up to training under Jurgen Klopp.

But if he carries on the way he is, then perhaps that recognition won’t be too far away.

As per his player profile on liverpoolfc.com, Morrison is a former Manchester United youth teamer. Described as a ‘creative and attacking central midfield player,’ he was reportedly with United up to U14 level.

 

From there, Liverpool nabbed him and Morrison has been rising through the ranks ever since.

Only turning 17 in November, the former United prospect has already played with the U21s this season. He clearly has something.

With interest seemingly coming in him from elsewhere, maybe Liverpool have made assurances that Morrison will continue his rapid rise.

 

Given the way the campaign is panning out, it seems highly unlikely that a chance with the seniors will now come this season, though.

But under the new manager in 2024/25, maybe Morrison is one to keep an eye on.
