Gary Neville has spoken about the altercation between Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher.
Gary Neville has had his say on Sky Sports pundit Pep Guardiola’s approach, but he couldn’t help but make a rude comment about Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.
Things have not been going well for Manchester City recently. They have just three points from their last three games. The recent draw with Tottenham Hotspur has sparked debate among former Sky Sports professionals, with complacency issues raised.
Guardiola was none too pleased and blasted the pundits for not knowing what it took to win a fourth consecutive Premier League title. “He knows how hard it is,” the coach told the media on Tuesday.
“Otherwise Gary Neville would have won four successive Premier League titles during Manchester United’s heyday. But he wasn’t like that.
Jamie Carragher has never won a title. Micah Richards has failed to score a win in four consecutive Premier League games. not. That never happened.
It is more likely not to happen than to happen. We have only one high note. It is very difficult to do this over and over again.
There’s no one who hasn’t been doing this for years.”And the former Manchester United vice-captain later took the opportunity to hit out at the Spaniard after he was attacked.
He said: “If Liverpool had been a nation state and the rules had been so strict that the PL had fined us 115 times, I think I would have won! “I praised Pep’s team after Sunday’s game.
“Neville clearly hoped he wouldn’t, but when he woke up early and discovered Carragher’s social media post, he couldn’t help but crack a hilarious joke at his former rival.
First, the former Manchester United player started his TikTok video with a sarcastic response to the City manager. “Starting with old Master Pep criticizing me and Kara.
“I’m sorry we couldn’t win four in a row, Pep. I am sorry.”He went on to say: “It was a bit funny because my friend James from Liverpool has never been to a Premier League victory ceremony in his entire career.
“But that dirty dog Carragher had to get back at Pep, didn’t he?
He went above and beyond and couldn’t take it as a compliment and told Pep that if I had been state owned I would have won the Premier League if I had been charged 115 and followed the rules.
“Kara, I think you could have won the Premier League if you hadn’t kicked the ball in the net. You would help the team a lot!”Of course, it was Neville’s United that often prevented Manchester United from winning the Premier League in the 1990s and 1990s.
By the end of his career, Carragher had scored the second most own goals in the Premier League to date: seven. That’s more than he scored for Liverpool (plus two goals in one game against United in 1999), so it’s no surprise Neville wanted to rob his ‘friend’.
