Grizzlies Star Receives $200 Million Bad News After NBA’s Announcement

The Memphis Grizzlies’ 2024-25 season was a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Finishing with a 48-34 record, they secured the eighth seed in the Western Conference, showcasing resilience despite facing significant challenges. However, their postseason aspirations were short-lived as they were swept 4-0 by the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs.

The series was marred by the loss of star guard Ja Morant, who suffered a hip injury in Game 3, leaving the team without its primary playmaker during a critical juncture. Despite the early playoff exit, the Grizzlies had bright spots during the regular season.

One standout performer was power forward Jaren Jackson Jr., who delivered a career-best season. Jackson averaged 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 48.8% from the field. His defensive output earned him a spot on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team, marking his third overall All-Defensive honor. Additionally, he was selected as a starter for the Western Conference in the 2025 NBA All-Star Game.

However, Jackson’s stellar season was overshadowed by a snub; one that will cost him a fortune. He missed out on an All-NBA, the league announced last week. This news will cost him nearly $200 million in potential earnings, per ClutchPoints.

Drafted fourth overall in 2018, Jackson quickly established himself as a defensive stalwart, winning Defensive Player of the Year award in the 2022-23 season—the first in franchise history. While the All-NBA snub is a disappointment, Jackson’s contributions on both ends of the floor ensure he will continue to be a pivotal part of Memphis’s pursuit of championship contention.
