Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the game against West Ham, he told TBR Football: “I’m not surprised because he did that.
If you look at his career and his ability to make big plays and big moments, it’s really amazing. So we decided to bring it. It’s a great honor for him too. “Because even if you can’t play regularly, it’s good to go in and do it.” Arteta also mentioned that the former Chelsea midfielder is an important player for the Gunners due to his vast experience and leadership.
He added: “Of course, he is a very important player for us. I think he brings something special to the team. His leadership, his understanding of the game. “His ability to coach and understand what is needed in every moment of the game is a unique quality that is hard to find.”

Jorgenho played 22 games in this competition, starting 11 of them. Arsenal plan to buy the La Liga winger and then Liverpool. Arsenal are interested in Athletic Club youngster Nico Williams, who is set to join Liverpool. According to The Mirror, the Gunners are eyeing Williams as a summer signing to bolster their options out wide.
Mikel Arteta’s side are looking for a player who can compete with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. Williams is believed to be up for grabs, while Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto is seen as another option. Arsenal are understood to be ready to offload academy graduates Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah in the summer.
They want to reinvest in a top quality young player like Williams. However, they will face stiff competition to sign the 21-year-old.
