“This means everything to me,” Mitchell said after the announcement. “I’ve worked my entire life to reach this level, and to be recognized alongside some of the league’s greatest talents is an incredible honor. But I’m not done. Cleveland is home, and I’m here to bring a championship to this city.”

Mitchell’s incredible season included multiple 40-point games, clutch playoff performances, and a vocal presence in the locker room that helped guide a young Cavaliers team through adversity and into the upper echelon of the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers, considered underdogs by many entering the playoffs, advanced to the Eastern Semis after a thrilling first-round upset over a higher-seeded opponent, with Mitchell playing the role of closer and captain.
