Maya Makalusky, a standout player from Hamilton Southeastern High School, has been honored as Indiana’s 2025 Miss Basketball. This prestigious award recognizes the top high school girls’ basketball player in the state.
Throughout her senior season, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard showcased exceptional skills, averaging 22.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Her impressive performance led the Royals to a remarkable 27-1 record and a berth in the Class 4A semi-state championship game. Makalusky also demonstrated remarkable shooting accuracy, converting 40.1% of her three-point attempts and 80.3% from the free-throw line
In addition to the Miss Basketball title, Makalusky was named the Gatorade Indiana Girls Basketball Player of the Year, further cementing her status as the state’s premier talent.
She also received recognition as the Indiana MaxPreps Player of the Year, breaking her school’s all-time scoring record with 1,933 career points.
Committed to Indiana University, Makalusky is set to join the Hoosiers’ women’s basketball program. Notably, she is the first Miss Basketball winner to join Indiana University as a freshman since Jorie Allen in 2019.
Her accolades also include being a McDonald’s All-American nominee, reflecting her national recognition.
